Unlike most first aid training organisations, our trainers volunteer for the East of England Ambulance Service as Community First Responders to gain vital, up-to-date experience to pass on to our clients.   • QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)

    Did you know that an estimated 609,000 workers in Britain sustained an injury at work in 2016/17? 


    The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a risk assessment, appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training. However, having the correct first aid provision in the workplace is not just a legal requirement, it is incredibly important for the safety of all members of staff! 


    The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) qualification:

  • QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

    Would you know what to do if a child in your care needed first aid? 


    The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also consider the number of children, staff and layout of the premises and increase their paediatric first aid provision accordingly to ensure that a paediatric first aider is available to respond to emergencies quickly. 


    The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification:


    This qualification has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for: 


    • Those who have gained a level 2 and/or level 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early-years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements. 
    • Registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate to comply with the EYFS requirements. 
    • Anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children, such as parents, grandparents and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills. 

    Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider and will be equipped with the necessary skills to administer safe and effective treatment when dealing with a range of paediatric first aid situations. 


    Newly qualified entrants to an early-years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full paediatric first aid or an emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

    The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification 


    This qualification has been designed in-line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is ideal for: 


    • Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early-years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with the EYFS requirements. 
    • Anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills. 

    Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the emergency paediatric first aider and will be equipped with the skills needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, such as performing CPR and controlling external bleeding.

    The Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid Course is ideal for those who work in settings that require both first aiders and paediatric first aiders, such as schools, sports clubs or other childcare settings. 


    Combining the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) and the QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) into 3 extended days of classroom learning, this specially designed course enables candidates to gain the skills and knowledge needed to provide both adult and paediatric first aid, whilst minimising the number of training days required to achieve both qualifications.

    Anaphylaxis is a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction, which requires immediate medical attention. With the number of sufferers increasing each year, it is extremely important to know what to do when faced with this acute emergency condition. 


    The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF) 


    This qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.

    Did you know that the HSE guidelines state that employers should ensure their first aiders remain competent to perform their role? 


    As such, it is strongly recommended that first aiders undertake annual refresher training to practise their skills and update their knowledge on the latest first aid procedures. 


    The First Aid at Work Annual Refresher qualification


    This qualification is specifically designed to allow qualified first aiders to update their first aid skills yearly, until requalification training is required.     The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework states that early years providers should consider whether paediatric first aiders need to undertake annual refresher training to maintain basic key skills and keep up to date with any changes to paediatric first aid procedures. 

    The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (Annual Refresher) (RQF) qualification 

    This qualification has been specifically designed to allow qualified paediatric first aiders to refresh their knowledge and practise essential paediatric first aid skills every year until requalification training is required.

  • Outdoor and Wild Country First Aid

    A course to be carried out over 2 days, where we focus on dealing with incidents far from medical help with the minimal equipment you would carry while participating in or leading outdoor activities. 


    The emphasis is on practical skills with plenty of hands-on practice including lots of outdoor scenarios.


    This course is designed specifically for those operating in outdoor, remote or wilderness environments. The training focuses on problem prevention and effective patient management when access to definitive care is difficult or delayed.


    Excellent for Duke of Edinburgh Award Leaders or Assessors, Outdoor Centres, Climbing Walls, ML Award Holders and SPA Award Holders, Scouts, Scout leaders, or anyone interested in working or playing in the outdoors.


    What is covered on the course: 

    • Assess and prioritise a first aid incident

    • Deal with the principals of incident management

    • Deal with an unconscious casualty

    • Carry out resuscitation (CPR)

    • Use of AED de-fib machines

    • Control bleeding and manage shock

  • QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF)

    Would you know how to react in the event of a terrorist attack? 


    Whenever there is a shooting, stabbing or bomb explosion, the initial priority is understandably to ensure public safety, which can unfortunately cause delays to the emergency services being able to reach the injured. 


    The QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF) 


    This qualification has been specifically developed to help members of the public learn life-saving skills for use in these extreme situations. Based on the citizenAID phone App and pocket guide, this regulated qualification is designed to teach people how to react safely, prioritise the injured and give first aid to victims in the event of a deliberate multiple casualty incident. 


    During this 3-hour course, candidates will have the opportunity to practise techniques for dealing with catastrophic bleeding and will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to save lives in the aftermath of a terrorist attack.


    What is covered on the course: 


    • Determining the appropriate actions to take in the event of a knife attack, active shooting, a suspected bomb or bomb explosion. 
    • Reporting the incident to the emergency services

    EU and UK regulations state that all food handlers must receive appropriate training in food safety practices relevant to their duties. However, having a good understanding of food safety practices is not only a legal requirement, it is also essential in protecting the health of both consumers and food handlers. 


    The QA Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing (RQF) 


    This is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who work, or are planning to work, in a food manufacturing environment.
